Eta Mu Chapter of Sigma Chi at Eastern Illinois - Mark McCabe '78 Inducted to HOF

Mark McCabe '78 Inducted to HOFSeven coaches were voted into ITCCCA’s Coaches Hall-of-Fame at the recent Hall-of-Fame Committee meeting. They will be inducted at the annual ITCCCA Hall-of-Fame Banquet, following the Clinic on Jan. 14, 2017. The selection meeting takes place in October each year. ITCCCA by-laws allow the committee to select up to seven members each year. One of those selected this year was our very own Mark McCabe '78.

Mark McCabe (Hinsdale Central High School) Mark McCabe '78 has been coaching Cross Country and/or Track & Field for over 30 years. He has spent the last 22 years at Hinsdale Central. Previously, he coached at Oakland, Teutopolis, Dixon, and Libertyville high schools. Teams Mark has coached have won four IHSA State trophies, including a State Championship in Girls Cross Country. His cross country teams at Hinsdale Central have won three Sectional, seven Regional, and eight Conference titles. His athletes have won 34 State medals, including State Championships in Girls 1600 meters run and 3200 meter relay. Mark has served as co-director of many meets and co-organized the CC coaches poll. Mark “has had a amazing career and has meant so much to the athletes he has coached.”
