Brotherhood Sparks New Connections Everywhere We Go

We recently received a submission from Dan Bagus ’82 that reaffirms just how strong the ties of brotherhood are.

“I recently attended the Winter Classic outdoor hockey game at Busch stadium,” he says. “I saw a young man a few rows in front with his Sigma Chi stocking cap, so we captured the moment in the attached photo. I thought that was pretty cool. His name is Sam Kemper from the University of Tulsa.”

"It's always an amazing experience to introduce yourself to a complete stranger (among 20,000+ others), shaking hands and knowing that you have this incredible bond that no one else can understand," Dan continues. "Sam was there with his biological brother and I was there with my (non-Sig) son. They took the pictures and introduced themselves, while wondering what it is that this amazing ritual does to bond us so tightly and why they passed on the opportunity. The fact that we are both part of legacies and Sam was anxious to share the experience with his father made it a bit more special."

Despite being total strangers—and cheering on different teams—their shared Sigma Chi membership brought them together.

Thank you to Dan for capturing and sharing this moment with us.
