Eta Mu Chapter of Sigma Chi at Eastern Illinois - How to Join

FaceBook  Twitter

The easiest way to join Sigma Chi at Eastern Illinois University is by getting to know the brothers on campus. The best opportunity to do this is at our recruitment tables and events that are hosted at the house (1021 Greek Court) during the first couple weeks of each semester. You must be a full time college student and have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or greater. We accept men of all different temperaments, talents, and convictions, however; Sigma Chi does not let just anyone join. Once we know you are interested in joining, the brothers will weigh you against the Jordan Standard, attributes that are necessary to pledge Sigma Chi. They are:

A man of good character,
A student of fair ability,
With ambitious purposes,
A congenial disposition,
Possessed of good morals,
Having a high sense of honor,
And a deep sense of personal responsibility.

If you are indeed found worthy, you will receive a formal bid to join. After you turn it in to the Greek Life office, you will begin pledgeship. This is usually a 6-8 week educational process in which you learn about our Fraternity, and get to know all of the brothers. If you successfully make it through the pledge process, you will have the ceremonies of initiation conferred upon you, after which you are a full member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
